Probably on his advice, after completing his secondary education Schellekens went to study architecture at the Polytechnic Institute in Antwerp in 1927. This was primarily a technical training that nevertheless earned him an architect’s degree on July 11, 1930. To ensure that he earned a certain income, he combined these studies with an internship at Taeymans’ office.
