We have begun digitising the archives of provincial architect Jozef Schellekens and the Atelier Carli Vanhout – Paul Schellekens & Ass. These unique collections contain building plans, sketches, photographs, correspondence and other documents that paint a rich picture of modernism and the Turnhout School in the twentieth century.
Under the guidance of Erfgoed Noorderkempen and with the invaluable commitment of volunteers from Allemaal Digitaal, this heritage is being made accessible step by step. It involves thousands of pieces that need to be carefully scanned, described and preserved.
It is a long-term process that requires a great deal of time, patience, and dedication. But thanks to these efforts, the modernist heritage of Turnhout and the Campine region will not be lost, but will remain visible, consultable, and useful for researchers, residents, and enthusiasts in the future.
