ACT’s monthly tours have been fully booked for the past two months. And it is not only domestic visitors who are finding their way to this unique architecture; international interest is also growing.

During the most recent edition, we were pleased to welcome visitors from Scotland, the United States, the Netherlands, and Great Britain, alongside many interested compatriots. This wonderful international mix shows that Turnhout’s architectural heritage can also captivate far beyond our borders.

Notably, international visitors often discover ACT through Iconic Houses, the international network that highlights unique architects’ and artists’ homes worldwide. Through this network, architecture enthusiasts from all over the world find their way to Turnhout and our exceptional homes.

During the tour, visitors discover three unique locations: the Jozef Schellekens house, the Carli Vanhout studio house, and the Sun House. Each building has its own character and history, together providing a fascinating insight into architecture, living, and design in Turnhout.

The tours are led by curator Jan Vanhout. He guides visitors through the homes, sharing insights into their architecture, residents, designers, and the stories behind the buildings.

The feedback afterwards is consistently positive. Visitors are curious, ask many questions, and show great interest in both the architecture and the history of the homes. This enthusiastic exchange makes every tour special.

Possibly two tours per month

The growing interest leaves us wanting more. Currently, the tour takes place every third Wednesday of the month. If the tours remain fully booked, we intend to expand the offering with a second monthly edition.

In that case, ACT will welcome visitors on the first and third Wednesday of every month.
This will give even more architecture enthusiasts from home and abroad the chance to discover these unique locations.

We are delighted that our tours have been fully booked for two consecutive months. We look forward to welcoming many more curious visitors to Turnhout in the coming months.
